To Shot Peen OE Gearset?
I've read a lot about shot peening gearsets in other auto communities and the great benefits it offers by raising the fatigue limits of the gears, especially at the base of the teeth where it matters most. I'm nearly ready to assemble my new trans with MFactory LSD and strongly considering having this done, but I'd like to gain some perspective on the process first.
Does anyone have some insight to share on this? Is a special peening machine required in order to avoid damaging the synchro cones, or can you just assemble each stack on the shaft and peen it that way? I'm all about some cheap insurance, and I'd much appreciate some help deciding whether this is worth doing.
