my crx started fuel cutting today for the first time ever it was around 5500-6000 rpm only in 1st and 2nd gear any other gear is fine and it started getting worse now its cutting around 4500-5000 rpm. Its a b16a engine bone stock execpt intake and exhaust any one have any ideas of what it could be?

 

CEL codes?

 

its got a cel for a knock sensor because there is no knock sensor but it ran fine forever with out it before it just started up from one dig now when i took it out like 15 minuites ago it didnt do it so idk lol

 

B16a3 engine? What ECU/ Did you check for new codes when the problem started?

 

B16a engine idk what ecu but i hoped in my car again today and it did it again but i stepped on the gas when it cut and the rpm didnt stop the car just sounds like an srt4 backfiring and its doing it at 4500 now in 1st-3rd gears it dosnt do it in 4th or 5th gear

 

No new codes came up thats why i was confused and put it on here for a good place to start looking :-)

 

It only acts up when the engine is hot andit smells very rich so i believe its the dizzy starting to act up

How do you know it's fuel? More time it's going to be air or electrical.

 

Im going off of lack of spark because of the super rich situation that happens i dont believe its fuel cutting

 

I had a problem like that with my civic it had a d15b1 bottom end with a d16 head on it, at the time. It would run till it warmed up then it would start to cut out and smelled of fuel horribly. I ran across this before with other cars then Honda's. What I found was the coolant temp sensor was read wrong ohm's, and when the car warmed up the ecu thought it was still cold. Which would then add more fuel, when not needed. I would test that before I would change my dizzy, unless you have parts just laying around to throw at it.
