slow little build thread 4th gen prelude VTAKKKKKKKKKKK
i recently traded my civic hatch for a 94 prelude vtec. i figured while im doing the work on my prelude i might as well just get a little fun out of it and make a small build thread. also, if i ever decide to sell it, ill have a little proof of when things were put on, the condition of the engine etc.
Things ive Bought/done to it within the last two months or so:
Enkei EV5 rims with Falkens

Stripped the paint off of the valve cover and resprayed it with vht wrinkle paint. Also, on the spark plug cover, i sanded off the HONDA and H logo and all of the silver paint and recoated it with OEM matching silver.

completely cleaned the Stock intake inside and out and also removed the resonator box.

Before:

After:

sanded, prepped, painted, all new gaskets and seals as well on the entire engine.
Front side of the h22. i dropped the engine completely and painted the entire thing, but this is the front of it. done with VHT high heat aluminum. turned out looking great. i really took my time to prep the block and tranny. (still looks shiny because ti was still wet.)

After i removed my valvecover, i realized how sludgey the head was from the dumby who neglected it before i got it. i am having the head rebuilt now new valve seals etc. so ill update when i get it back

Got my head back

Just a picture of maggie looking like a snitch on our paint run to Vato Zone

Decided to repaint my Valvecover. wanna do my whole car a semi-flat silver like this soon once i get everything mechanically sound

Also painted my Brake calipers, but i decided to just replace all four with brand new ones so no pics

replaced everything on the timing belt side.

Got the head put on. once u get the head onto the engine, you should get oil and squirt over your cams and valve springs. the best way to do it without making a mess is putting a wad of napkin in each spark plug tube, get an empty water bottle, fill it with oil, put the cap on, then poke a hole in the cap.

the engine all put back together besides misc. things like the alt, A/C, PS belts.

Maggie getting the first start-up jitters hahahaha

First startup(Click the picture. its a link)

yea its already a little dirty i didnt put a clear over it so im just guna redo later anyways lol. i just had leftover hi temp engine block paint so i said what the heck.
this isnt the most exciting build thread im just doing regular maintenance and just kinda showing progress in case i ever wanna sell it.
the next updates should be me replacing the axles, rotors, all calipers, all pads, all brake line, replacing the 6x9 sub in the middle of my rear seats, making a custom intake, etc.
i aLso plan on painting it but that will be a little later.

Haha reg maintenance is always fun to watch. I don't even know how that head was running before with that brutal sludge. It probably will feel much better with the fresh rebuild.
i scraped off carbon buildup off the piston heads with a razorblade as well for a good hour. i get so wrapped up in getting it as clean as possible its like im on adderall or something. i didnt have the camera the week before i put my head on, i wish i got before and after pics but its whatever. i should be updating this during the next week im guna be doing quite a bit of work.

well, i got my four new rotors, all four rotor brake pads and two new rear brake calipers. im still going to have to order the new front calipers and new axles at the end of the month. i had my mechanic friend run the rotors to balance them.

i also thought my left rear shock swas blown since it was making a thudding noise, but it turned out to be my lower balljoint that was slightly bad.

Nice work so far, in for more updates. Just started my 4th gen build, luckily my new h22 didn't have that much sludge in the head, that was gnarly.
yea the sludge was pretty bad. i wanted to spend the 200$ i have saved up to buy new fenders but i might just buy a new piston ring set and new bearings and take the engine apart again and throw them on there since my car wont be running until the end fo the month anyways but idk yet. and ill check out your build thread
im actually going to call the mechanic and see if hell swing by to crossverify that its the rings that are bad. possible leakdown test. im saving up for an over the top security system though but ill probably save up for fenders and paint supplies after christmas, well see. im still sluggin around and i havent looked for jobs yet so i have around 1000$ saved up in the bank that im going to spend on rings and the security system. reliability and security before the looks.
