i have everything disconnected besides the two shifter cables that mount to the "box" on top of the tranny housing. whats the best place to disconnect those wires?

 

and if ur wondering why in the world i would disconnect everything and drop it just for paint, i have my head at the mechanics getting fully rebuilt. so i have a week of extra time to just really clean my engine bay up since i probably will never be in the situation get at everything as good again(unless my clutch goes out or something)

 

There are just a couple cotter pins holding those shifters on.

 

so youll disconnect the lines basically right on the tranny then? i thought thats how they came off but i figured it couldnt be that easy

 

Yeah, one is big and the other is small, can't really mix them up.
