Default Best affordable shock for autocross

I need advice on what shocks to go with. I have a EM1 and I'm going to begin to run some autocross in the fall. I am up in the air for shocks. I already have some Apexi lowering springs, but will replacing those as well. I will be honest, I'm looking to spend about $300 on shocks. I have found the Skunk2 shocks and Tokico Blue's to be in my budget.

I have not done autocross before and its about time for new shocks anyways. ANy suggestions would be much appreciated.

Skunk2's suspension setups are junk. (their camber kits aren't bad, but their coilovers are junk)

Tokico Blues are a stock replacement shock and don't take well to anything lowered more than about an inch and a half. Koni/GC will work great for what you want but your budget isn't realistic if you want anything that will work well or last.

you wont regret paying the extra, when it comes to auto parts, you really do get what you pay for

what class are you looking to running in?

and definitely spend the money, don't do it twice. if you can afford it, get the koni race. pricey, but then you won't have to worry about anything except for the springs. you could go a little cheaper and get the yellow's race valved, but then you would have to get top mounts. cheaper would be otc koni/gc. another option is to run progress with the autox setup. think it was 350f/450r?

Koni Yellows are hands down the best affordable shock for autox. I'd say easily the most widely used shock for autox cars. Go to an event and see how many people have them, that'll be proof enough lol.

Progress is the cheapest reliable setup for autocross, but after running 2 seasons on them I honestly can't recommend them. The CS-I kit that I have is a great entry level setup to learn on, but you can't upgrade the springs much as your skill improves.

Koni's on the other hand, you can start with relatively soft rates and as you get better just buy new springs from Eibach and, if you have to, get your koni's revalved once you're getting over 600lbs or so and are getting damping issues.

Koni is damn well the standard for autocross for a reason.
