Probably stupid question but is it safe to do this? Can stock springs handle this? I know the oem retainers can cause I've seen people run dual Supertech springs with their oem retainers.

I know it's a lot safer to run these cams with upgraded springs and retainers but wondering if someone has done this before on a stock head.

Looking to get around 300 on stock bottom end with some sort of t3 .63.

Gotcha. Alright well it was just a Noob question I didn't see around so figured I might as well take the brunt of it.

No stock valvetrain with 403/404. Thank you gents!

Some places make mild cam profiles for stock springs and retainers but I wouldn't put any cams in an ls without spring upgrade. Stock are junk

You'd be surprised how cheap you can find setups for an ls head. People giving up on projects or used in good condition.

I know. I'm in the midst of rebuilding my head. Valve stems are gone smokes a hella lot. So I'm just gonna get some Supertech valve stems, bronze valve guides, dual springs, and the 404/403 cams. But I was just wondering about stock valvetrain handleing that. But it can't so I got the answer lol. I know I can make 300 with almost very few upgrades to the engine. But as its my daily I wanna do it right the first time.

Here basically all I got from what I've been reading from Honda tech LS-t people use and seem to have a Lotta luck with:

Arp head studs
Log mani
Tial 44mm BOV
Tial 38mm WG
Evo III 560cc injectors
OEM Head gasket
And my leakdown test came up around 4% so I think it's still a healthy motor on an unknown mileage motor to boost.

And then some bells and whistles(boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, JDM sport fmic)

But the main challenge I have now is finding a turbo that fits my wants. Was thinking the precision 3043E or 3043 good for 400hp I believe but that doesn't leave me much of growing room for the motor I'm gonna build on the side. I wanna run the 6262 seems like a good turbo all round.

I prefer tool steel retainers... they weigh just as much as their titanium counterparts, are cheaper and much much more durable.

kms makes nice stuff...
dual springs and retainers

tool steel retainers

zex has a really nice, affordable set of tool steel retainers but i can't find them at the moment.

Hmmm never heard of kms. Also those steel retainers, wouldn't that cause for a loud engine? And $72 for a whole set while supertech(which is Ti and probably the cheapest I've seen go for $222?), that seems quiet odd.

I appreciate the websites though, usually drop my prices $20 from what's on eBay. But those steel reatinrs. Any retainer can't fit a LS head. Like the K series can't fit a B or D, and vise versa. On ebay it says it's for all of those. Wouldn't that cause for a problem? And it says only usable for the Crower springs. Sorry I'm asking a lotta questions, I have Mitsu friends and they're are all telling me my Honda is gonna blow up and they kinda don't help when it comes down to learning and boosting. Most info I got here is kinda reading off of what is said here and I search cause I kinda hate asking noobish questions but hell, I need to learn lol

they don't sound any different... we use tool steel retainers on our 600rwhp ls7 in our z06 and they don't sound any different.

titanium is expensive... and you normally have to have special tooling to machine it... tool steel is cheap and cheap to machine

Wantboost- alrighty, well do those tool retainers fit my LS head? I'll try them out.

B and B- yes valve stem seals. I'm rebuilding my head and my valve stem seals are shot. So I'm buying the Supertech ones.

The more aggressive cams with the aftermarket valvetrain slamming the valve shut faster is what's going to make the engine noisier

Pretty sure that's not correct....

VTEC is definitely different from Non-VTEC
