2008 civic front end damage...how to fix
Hi guys,
I know this is ny first post but I've been looking at forums and this one has some really great advice so I'm hoping to get some myself. I recently bought a 2008 civic coupe and thin a week of having it (the plates aren't even on yet!) some ahole van cuts in front of me and I rear ended him. He didn't care because there was no damage to his van (a company type larger van for an electrical company) so we just drove off, knowing if I reported it to insurance my rates would go up and I'd still have to pay.
So here is my dilemma- the damage isn't horrific, almost seems cosmetic, but its new to me and I'm so upset and want it fixed but don't wqnt to be ripped off at an auto body shop if not necessary. It is hit below where the h on the front is and just above where the license plate sits. There was a metal square thing coming out from the vans bumper that pushed into my car. Now its worse than a dent because its pushed in but it stilll looks to me like something that can be repaired myself if I knew how. I just wanna know if anyone thinks its worth it to bring to a shop or if not a way I can do it myself. I saw online a lot abo using heat to bend it back but Ive never done my own repairs so I don't know the details of this method or if it only works with dents not pushed in parts. I don't know how to attach a photo but when I figure it out I can atth one as well. in advance, so stressed and so looking forward to the responses!

Regardless if you want to repair or replace bumper shell, you have to pull it off to get the work done. The shell is polyeurethane, I m not sure you can effectively repair it seamlessly, there will be a mark or an imperfection. Best off to replace the shell, and make sure there is no damage to the bumper or the mounts.
I use http://my.imageshack.us/ to post pics. Just upload the pics on that site, and they give different options for displaying the pics on forums.

Yeah, if you're going to be paying a body shop to repair that bumper, it'll probably come out cheaper to just buy a new one. Call around your local junkyards or even look on eBay for a used one. Any '06-'08 2 door Civic front bumper will work.
