i have a 91 ef hatch d15b1 dpfi and 4 speed now when ever i start it it puffs smoke out the back until it warms up then it only does it when i take of from a light i just moved to Charlotte from Florida so most of my tools are still packed away when i find my compression tester i will be able to see if thats my problem i also have a miss ive changed plugs wires and cleaned the cap and rotter but it still feels down on power

 

smoking at start-up is bad valve seals Allowing oil to leak into the cylinders while you car is parked.

 

Blue or white smoke?

 

Could be your spark plug tube seals. But I'll echo that. What color is the smoke?

 

i think its a blue smoke its hard to tell with dirty windows

 

valve seals... same problem in my ef with an LS. supertech has them for like 28 bucks new on ebay.

valve seals = valve stem seals??? or two different seals?

 

i think im going to slap a new head on mine
