Default Loose Shifter ?

I have a 1996 honda civic body. with b16a2 and i am 99% sure s4c tranny. I just got it about 2 weeks ago off a friend of mine. Anyways when i can shift into gear perfectly fine and it does not slip out of gear. But when engaged i can move the shifter all around. Its not hurting anything to my knowledge but i fell like i could be getting a lot quicker and smother shifts if it was not so loose. Any advise ????

Get yourself a new shifter bushing set from Blackworks Racing. Why? Because it's the EXACT SAME as Energy Suspension bushings, at half the price. When I say "exact same", I mean even the packaging still says Energy Suspension on it.

I am willing to bet your shifter bushings are bad.

Same problem happened to me.. i just picked up some poly bushings and a short shifter while i was at it. :D

Like everyone said, check the bushings. Also it could be that the person who did the swap used a bolt instead of a roll pin connecting the linkage to the trans. That will cause a sloppy shifter too.

could also be the joint on the shifter rod.. They are pretty easy to re build, just have to grind the pin and tap out with a punch
