Is there any diy to replace tie rod? I could only find for 93 civic but not for 03

Default Is there any diy to replace tie rod? I could only find for 93 civic but not for 03

I need to replace inner tie rod in my wife's 03 civic LX. I could not find any diy for 03 civic. Please help.

Put the front of the car on jack stands.

Take the wheel off.

Remove the nut for the tie-rod end and separate the tie-rod end from the steering arm on the damper.

Unscrew it and replace it.

Install in reverse order.

40 lbft for the end that goes to the steering rack.

33 lbft for the tie-rod end.

32 lbft for the nut securing the tie-rod end to the steering arm on the damper.



Pretty easy stuff.

You have to fold back the metal tabs where the inner tie-rod meets the rack before you can unscrew the inner from the rack. That washer should come with the new inner. Screw the inner into the rack to torque (as mentioned) then fold back the tabs on the new washer to lock it in place.
