Default 96 hatchback. need help figuring out where this wire goes. pictures inside

okay, the wire im talking about is under the dash connected to the little black box in this picture. http://imgur.com/fsGmQ,FZHgj ...it is the 4th wire from the right. its the black and white wire. it comes out of the fire wall near the clutch cylinder. http://imgur.com/fsGmQ,FZHgj#1 ...i think its the an alternator wire, but i dont know where/how to hook it up.

That's a security alarm.
1. Need the model of the alarm system for wiring diagram.
2. Is your car running?
3. Can you turn on the security?
4. Can you turn the security on and start the car to see if it starts?

I think that's the starter cut off wire that should be in between the starter and the battery. Or it could just be as simple as speaker wire or security bypass wire. Can't really tell much.

Test the voltage of the battery with engine off. Record the result. Then turn on the engine and test it again. Compare the two results. If no change, your alternator has a problem. Then, you need to trace the wire coming from alternator to the under-hood fuse box.

Oh. Also check the ground wire from battery and from alternator. Clean the battery clips. If they are too rusty or old, replace them.

Have you checked the 7.5 fuse under the dash that is for the alternator?

I just had this issues where my alternatOr wasn't charging my battery. First check your fuse 15 under dash. Than check all your grounds that was my problem my grounds weren't making direct contact with metal im Assuming and once I grounded all the paint off and made sure they were all touching metal everything worked as it should. After if that's not it I have a bunch of tests another user posted on my thread to help me I'll send them to you.
