Default 91 Civic DX Brake Problems

Hi, I'm new to the site here and need some advice.

I bought my Civic about a month ago knowing it needed some major brake work. Well I took it to the mechanic today and until now I wasn't having any problems. It was good for a few hours and now the brake pedal travels all the way to the floor and the brakes feel soft/weak.
The things I had replaced were:
-Front calipers
-Front pads
-Front rotors
-Rear shoes
-Rear cylinders

I also had a fluid flush done.
Any ideas what my problem might be.
Thanks!

Try bleeding your brakes again. If your pedal is still going all the way to the floor, your mc is going bad.

Would this be something my mechanic should have done? and or would it cost much?

no. your mechanic should've bled your brakes after the install. There may be air in your lines.

Ok, I will be going back there tomorrow to get them to do that. Any idea if they will charge me, or is it something they should do free of charge as they didn't do it the first time.
Also if it is the MC any idea how much the fix will cost?

Not sure what mdtsdca is trying to say here but,

Your mechanic should have bled your brake system. It's their job when working on the brakes. Extremely terrible mistake to make as it could get you killed if you drove and the brakes went out/poor.

Bleed the system, isn't that hard. There should be a write-up in the DIY sticky at the top.

I don't have the tools to do it myself and I am not very mechanically adept so I would rather a professional do it. If they did bleed the system and I need a new master cylinder how much do you think I would be looking at?

Why not just bleed the system your self using the one man bleeder bottle.
1. Buy your self a c2 bottle any flavor ;D
2. See through garden hose. Make sure the hose fits the bleeder screw real snug and tight.
3. Cut a small hole on top of the cap and insert the hose. Make sure the hose is all the way down.
4. Pour a little brake fluid to the bottle and cover it. Just so your not putting air into your system.
5. Start bleeding your brakes rr,rl,FL,FR. Make sure you dont see any air on the hose.

Its that simple.

So I went back to the mechanic and on the way there the brakes seemed fine. They did do a bleed while it was there so the problem is the MC. $1300 for the whole brake job and my wallet hurts but at least my baby is gold again.

Wow...... Should've been at the very most 300.00 for labor if even that. It amazes me what mechanics do to people who don't know anything.

Sounds like you used OEM parts too instead of remanufactured.
That $1300 sounds a bit steep, but labor at about $70/hr + OEM parts would sound about right.
