Default Chumpcar Cheapo setup

Now don't flame me, as I do also own a real racecar with GC/Koni setup.

But for our chumpcar, I don't want the added value of GC. So we are thinking either the ebay coil sleeves ( hey they come in almost any color combination http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...ivic+coilovers , most important. <Sarcasm) or the Megan Racing sleeves. Megan atleast has a spring rate posted, which I'm actually ok with considering our level of grip.

I know its all crap, but anyone have any imput on this "crap".

Ah, good question.

Does anyone have spring rate info on the ebay sleeves? Are they the exact same as the Megans?

I'm actually leaning towards the Megans as they atleast state there rates (at twice the price). Also curious if an Eibach ers race spring works with any of these.

I know........ some pretty obscure questions, as you would have to have experience with these as I have never bought this cheapo stuff before on eBay.

Most of the megans I've seen are either 400/300 or 450/350... My buddy had them on his civic. They sucked, super bouncy, even on Illumnia's. The coating flaked off in a few months, and they rusted to ****.

Maybe I'll go with the ebay ones then, if the Megans suck.

Its a track ONLY car. My only concern is being able to corner weight the car, and obviously adjust ride height. I would also like to see if the eibach ers race springs I have fit.

Bouncy translate to a spring rate that is too high for the shock valving. I can handle a little bounce on our Chumpcar, but would like to stay in the 300# range for oem style shocks.

1. Buy ebay coilovers.
2. Throw away springs
3. Buy summit springs (for $32) in length and rate you prefer
4. You have springs & coilover perches for $173

I do this on my rallyx car quite often.

THIS

especially since there is a good chance the ebay springs aren't actually of any spring rate, rather they are typically just made of whatever diameter rod the saler spec'd to the manufacturer. not to mention sag and the like.

megans are just as likely to be the same.
