The SI engine got 108 HP according to the manual? Also I've read a few threads here about this DC headers you will have to extend the wires for the O2 sensor ... The rest wiill just just plug&play then?

When it was brand new and measured at the crank.

I have/had that setup and then some. You'll "feel" the mid range increase a bit (really shift is more like it) but on a dyno it would show minimal gain. You'll definitely feel a difference with bigger piping and a good muffler but again, dyno would show minimal gains.

Ok cool and umm do u have any problem when you install the headers beside extending the wire for the O2 sensor? And oh we can't use the heat sheild from the stock motor right?

My header has the O2 bung up front. Heat shield could be used if you have someone make a bracket for you to mount it on.

Friend had the ecu in his CRX, stock Si, and it was pretty darn quick on the freeway. He let me borrow it, I liked it, he sold it to me. Keep in mind that this was ten years ago and stuff like that wasn't as common. Although I'd say go for it normally, I'd actually recommend saving your money. Come up with a real plan. The bolt on excitement is only going to last for so long.

I'd do the piping and muffler at the same time then and skip the "chip" for now.

Even a stock engine can benefit from a tune.
Generally, auto manufactures put a conservative tune on.
Not all engines are the same and emissions and other regulations have to be met.
Usually the stock tune is a little rich and robs you of a few horses.
Worth chipping and tuning? No. Not unless you are REALLY bored and have $ and time to blow on a tuning.

I don't know where some of these people on here are getting their information (they are wrong, BTW), but a DC 4-2-1 header is one of the best mods for the $$ for that motor. Follow that with an intake and good tune and that'll wake the A6 up.

This is what the STC D16a6 autox cars all run (limited to bolt-ons by the rules) and on average they put down around 115-120hp @ the wheels. On a car that was only supposed to make 108 crank, that's pretty darn good.

Keep in mind that back in the day (late 80's), one of the first headers that DC prototyped/made was for the Honda D-series. They tuned it pretty dang well for that application and that's why it works so well, even to this day.

Someday I'll actually scan in my dynos of my '91 Si with I/H/E + tune and show people that bolt-ons really do help that motor. I think part of the problem is that folks are basing their knowledge off the STD and DX motors, which don't respond for crap.

Hmmmm.... This is interesting , some say this and some say that . Anyways, I'm getting the headers for sure but for the Tune I have to do more research about it .

Todd ,

Ok so you have 91 Si with intake/dc sport header and chipped ECU correct? And have you done anything to ur exhaust?

Honestly if this is ALL you're going to do to this motor then yeah go for it, it won't hurt it... just your wallet a little.

Get a real nice intake, get the DC headers like Todd said, and open up that exhaust, just don't make it a fart can. What size exhaust are you running? Get it all tuned and you'll probably see 115-120hp like Todd said. Don't expect it to be amazing but you'll notice a little.

Everything you've asked has been there/done that for the majority of the players on this forum. They'll tell you that it's useless, and it is, but that's just because most are used to turbo'd out motors.

Yes this is all I'm going to do to the motor and no fart can muffler for sure . And I'm still waiting on Todd to chime in to chip/tune the ECU.
