Default Rebuilt Trans - Sometimes no third/fourth - No reverse

Hoping someone can help shed some light on this. Recently rebuilt the BXMA trans with new clutches, steel, all new orings/gaskets, and a reman torque converter.

Put the trans in and immediately we had no reverse. At first we had no third or fourth gear, but a few times it would show up and engage fully. In the process of taking the trans back out and inspecting it to see if we can find where we went wrong, but was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this.

Did everything according tot he book, purchased the right tools for the job and took no shortcuts whatsoever. All new Honda fluid when case was resealed.

Are you sure that your "shift" solenoids are good and are working properly?

Thanks for replying. They def were. We ended up figuring it out. For some reason when ever we bolted the main case on the counter shaft would become super tight and not move at all. Luckily we had another trans with parts around.

We swapped the counter shafts and voila... no more resistance. Put it back in and she's behaving exactly as you would expect after the overhaul service. We didn't replace the case bearings though and am wondering what the stance is on that.

Hopefully the bearings survive until the next rebuild.
