Firrst transmission build. anyone have pointers or maybe a manual
so im going to be replacing my gsr tranny which has no more 5th gear with a LS tranny, i want the taller gears for my boost build which is coming after the tranny is built, im going to be using all syncrotech parts LSD and master rebuild kit with carbon syncros etc.. this is my forst honda tranny build however iam confident iam capable of doing the work i would like to find a manual to reference just in case i see everyone talking about a helms manual but i cant find one anywhere, any ideas? pointers? tips? pdf files?
Helms Manual. Purchase one online. Probably on eBay.
If it's a VTEC engine, keep the GSR trans for the build and simply use the LS 5th from the LS trans.

i was thinking of keeping the LS and building it versus the gsr bc the gsr seems like all the gears are very short, i kind of feel i would be able to hold boost longer in all gears with the LS, i tried ebay i cannot seem to find a helm manual anywhere!
The GSR gears are not that short (and indeed shares the 1-2 ratios with the LS). If you REALLY want it a bit longer than a GSR, use the LS's 4.266 final drive. But I'd just go straight GSR if it's a VTEC engine that revs past 8200 rpm. Hell, even a non-VTEC engine for that matter. LOL I promise the GSR ratios aren't too "short".
And p.s. I went to eBay, typed in "integra service manual" and this was the 4th or 5th item.

Don't go straight ls tranny it sucks unless your making over 600 whp.
And even then I would swap final drives before making the switch to a complete ls.
Shifting at 8000 rpm you fall out of vtec and boost depending on what turbo your running.

It has no fifth gear? as in its missing? or as in, it doesn't work? Take the case apart and figure out whats wrong with it. GSR trans is very nice, and if you absolutely need it, a shorter final drive, I wouldn't think so myself, but then again I think 300hp in a Honda is enough for me personally.
B16 and LS share the same ring gear size, which are different from the GSR/Type R, you would have to use a ring gear made for the GSR/Type R differential.
