i bought a new turbonetics t3/t4 50trim .63 A/R turbo for my build. i originally only wanted to make around 300hp, now i think i want more, the turbo says its rated for up to 400HP how do turbo ratings actually work? the engine will be built to handle far more than 400HP, but can i push my turbo to its limit safley? is it going to be efficent all the to 400hp? like will it drop off up top? or not hold boost fully? if i end up needing to buy a bigger turbo iam looking at the precision 5862 or 6262 and i may as well make more than 400HP, btw this is a street car driven just for pleasure few times a week

 

nope. those can 400whp with a good intercooler for B/D/H series engine with no issues whatsoever

 

Shodan, let me start of by saying you are awesome, I follow all of your posts and try to read most of them, you Deff know your stuff! I appreciTe all of your posts bc it helps my self as a noob, I have never built a car for boost , this build was going to be a basic stock internal build, but I have read to many horror stories on eBay builds so I decided to buy good parts, it has pro longed my build bit it should be worth it I hope, so far I have the mentioned turbo,go autoworks mini ram and 3" down pipe hondata s300 Injector dynamic 1000cc aeromotive 340hp pump autoworks charge pipes, mishimoto R line intercoolerhks ssq4 voc and Tial mvr 44mm wastegate, IAM still deciding on internals threw research, also if I should sleeve or not sleeve my block, I plan on taking to Jeff Evans tunning in pa,which is 5 hours from me and I only want to do it once, I guess my only concern is if 400hp will be enuff, its hard for me to know bc I have never had any car that has been built, also have comp stage 4 six puck clutch and am in the process now of ordering a shncrotech LSD and master rebuild kit in hopes of strengthing my tranny, I just wish I knew what 400 HP would do in my ek hatch, any opinions on my set up so far?
