Need help, pics included
So I was trying to bolt my AT back onto my engine when i committed an uber newb mistake. What happened was I did not mate it together properly.
See pics.
Everythings fine right?

Oh the humanity,

My poor, poor transmission housing

So, what do I do? Someone suggested welding on another forum. I thought some JB weld would have done the trick because the grittiness of the break makes it a perfect candidate.
I may indeed have to haul it over to a welder... but what do you think? Would JB weld work?

Did you mean cold weld or heat weld? The break is clean and the texture of it is very gritty. I was going to put some jb weld on it as it is. The only question is heat, how hot does the transmission housing get. Jb weld says it goes up to 500o.
I took it over to a place and the guy there said that welding at the location of the break would burn up the solenoid seals and probably destroy the whole tranny. What I did decide to do with it is apply some JB weld (for now) and see how it works out.

The JB weld didn't work at all, I just tried mounting it today. The TC (torque converter) was not what caused the break but my clumsiness with putting in on. I should have listened to this video more in depth, I am very sorry I didn't.
At about 13:10 he says something I should have listened to. I had even downloaded the video for this part but was so eager to put in on that I forgot what he said. Now i really feel stupid.i wasn't thinking.
I really want to get it welded and be done with it. Can anybody please tell me if that welder was correct in saying that I would "burn up the seals" if I got it welded in that spot?
If I cannot weld it I will get a used one. JDM depot (ever heard of them) has a used tranny for 309$. My question to you is: would you recommend a used JDM tranny or a used USDM tranny? I can get a used USDM tranny from a wrecked accord on craigslist for 180$, i'll just have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get it.
So what sounds better, the USDM or the "low mileage" JDM?
The guy on craigslist said the tranny had no more that 150,000 miles on it.
What do you think? Please address both of my questions, 1. Will a weld in that spot destroy the transmission, and 2. Would you get the JDM tranny or the USDM one? I really appreciate it.

I would just get another used trans. I prefer JDM since they're low mileage and doesn't leak as much as a older used trans. Thats just me though. If you can wait then get the JDM one; otherwise, get whatever you find in your local area.
So what you're saying is that you didn't line up the dowel pins and thats why the housing cracked? I always lined up both of the dowel pins before I start putting bolts in.

i would get the JDm one as a replacement, but since this transmission has some life in it and runs good still, I am just having it welded.
That weld guy who said I would "burn up the seals" in the transmissoin was just bs-ing me, he just didn't want to do it.
Going someplace else to have it welded, hopefully for 50 bucks, that's how much he charges b ythe hour.
