1993 accord has oil on plugs and runs like crap
hey guys! new here and had a question. I pick up a 1993 honda accord lx a few days ago for pretty cheap and im trying to figure out whats wrong. heres what we are looking at: a car with 183,000 miles, it only seems to start in mild weather, if its to hot or cold it will crank but no start; (i feel like its the main relay that ive been reading about). but it seems to burn oil and when i checked the oil level it was really really low. then i pulled the plugs out and all the plugs were covered in oil and looking in the cylinders with a flashlight the head of the piston looks burnt and black. on startup it sounds like it will barlly keep going and like its running on two cylinders out of four. when driving it, if im going at a constant rate of speed, say 50mph, it runs quite well. i can get a used engine pretty cheap, i was just wondering what you guys think it could be. need a new head? head gasket? thanks!
It already has low compression...it doesn't burn antifreeze, but it obviously burns oil. The timing belt went out last year so I was told and they had the timing belt replaced but ever since then its ran terrible. Maybe a cracked head? What should I look for?

if it happened after the tbelt broke then it's probably bent valves. take it off, replace the valves, and do the valve stem seals while you're at it.
with that many miles you're better off ripping out the entire engine and rebuilding it.

Its the spark plug tube seals. Buy a full valve cover gasket kit and there included. Don't listen to these other idiots at all. No need to replace an engine that needs a 25 dollar fix.

that video is pretty funny, but yeah, that does sound like what i have...but my question is why would the oil get in the cylinders if the seat on top of the spark plugs is bad? and also when i look down inside the cylinders, the top of the pistons are kinda looking like charcoal in some spots...or is that normal if i was burning oil?
and thanks for the help so far!

and this motor is a non-interference motor correct? if that is true, then even if my timing belt did break, theres no way i could have bent a valve...right?
thanks
