Icon2 91 ef wagon - stalling, hesitation, and smog issues

my ef wagon starts right up and say that i want to leave right away it wont let me. it start to die or just jerk real bad at around 2-3rmp ......then i rev it in neutral and it passes 4rmp like nothing but i put the gear in ........it wont move pass 5mph . then i let it worm up (take 8mins or so) then i put the gear in and it drive like normal ............... .....i dont know whats wrong..... and no cel ........ the engine is a dpfi zc stock 5 speed .....if anyone knows please let me know so i could stop waiting to leave every time i turn off the car .......

When was the last ignition system tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor)?

Default help with smog question for 91 wagovan zc dpfi






what dous this mean ? do i need a 02 censer or cat or both? please if someone knows let me know .............

i also did the tune up and oil change and the cel is not on

Did you do a tune up yet?

Also post the entire emissions sheet.

At 25 mph, the O2 reading jumps up to 3.0, which suggests an exhaust leak.

ok am going to check for leaks and yes i did the complete tune up

my phone sucks on pix but here is the best i could get >.......also going to wait when the sun calms down cuz its hot outside and i have no shade ........... but thank for some info now am going to check for leaks >....

no leaks but the 02 looks old and the wire is bad so going to buy one soon to see if it changes anything...... but could it be clog the 02 or should i buy a new cat ......how long dous the factory cat last ?

so i found out the 02 was bad put another one but its twice the original size but by cel dont come one on the freewayno more and run better no more hesitation ......but i wonder if i could pass .....but dont know if i need to change the cat as well any info on how long the original cat last ????

Before you get a cat check for exhaust leaks like he said, that would explain the high nox.

thanks for the reply am going to take off all the heat shield and see if anything but ill post to see if i pass or not ........but could the original cat still be good ??

Look for black "soot" on exhaust connections. Between manifold and down pipe, down pipe and exhaust pipe, and the over axle connection. Also check for holes in muffler/resonator/catalytic and where they are welded/clamped on.

ok so i passed smog after a timing adjustment but just barely. my cat is in bad shape but i think i do have a small leak at the "soot"... but the muff is new and that has a soot as well which is odd. but am happy that i have two years to figuer it out .........thanks for the info ppl..................... Honda Power ...........lol.......soot
