Spoon replica mirror base plate fitment?
I just ordered the following mirrors off of a member here on honda-tech

Unfortunately the mirrors do not come with base plates and I am going to be installing these onto a 98 Civic 4 door. I was thinking of getting a set of Spoon replica mirrors and using the bases off of them.
My question is, does anyone have experience with using the knock off base plates? How is the fit/finish?

I was thinking of getting a CF sheet and cutting a section out of that but I'm unsure how to properly cut the CF (or plastic) since the block off plates have rounded corners and are recessed into the door.
But since the topic has been brought up, has anyone fabricated their own block off plates before?

those mirrors you bought are sick! Magic Racing?
when I bought a set of spoon f1 mirrors for my eg hatch they did not come with baseplates. At the time everyone was sold out of mirror block off plates. I had a set of spoon rep mirrors, so I decided to use the baseplates from them for my new mirrors. After I took the spoon rep mirrors off the baseplates, the manual mirrors had a 1/2" hole and screw holes also in the middle of the mirror. These needed to be covered up, so used jb weld to glue on a flat piece of plastic on the backside of the baseplate behind the holes. Then I used bondo to fill out the holes, let it dry and sanded it flat, flush, and smooth. I sanded down the outside of the entire baseplate and painted it with duplicolor black trim paint. I then mounted the new mirrors to my baseplates. The only issue I had was I should have waited for the bondo to completely dry before I painted it, because it expanded and raised up a little so you can see the edge of the 1/2" hole. This only happened on one side, the other one looks good. If I sanded it down and painted it again it would look really good, but I was already tired of the project, so just left it. It's been 2 years and the trim paint still looks good with no need for retouching. BTW, My spoon rep baseplates fit great on my eg hatch, but not sure for your chassis, hopefully someone else can give feedback about fitment.
