Your synchros are on their way out. If that 5th is gone, same with reverse.

I've heard redline transmission fluid works pretty good cause they're super slick.

95 percent of the time the syncro rings will be fine. What wears are the selector sleeves. The teeth get rounded off and they grind. A syncro ring WEILL wear, but more often than not )ALOT) the selector sleeve is fucked up. Its basic wear and tear, abuse and neglect, being as you bought it used, youll never know until you pull it apart. Ive built more H/F trannys than anyone youve ever heard of LOL

why not drop it open it and inspect and you can base your self on what you find if either rebuild or get a new one. easy as that no one will know whats wrong with your transmission unless they open it.

Yes, I know that, I should've word it better but they both shares the same shaft. If that shaft is bent in anyway, 5th and Reverse will not work. Look for threads on here about that.

I have never heard of a 5th gear grinding. Be that as it may, junkyards are a crap shoot, but if you know how to pull it urself, that would be ur best route. Obviously if you don't know how to take apart a manual tranny, just get one from someone. Last time I checked synchrotech had em for 650

Never heard of a H/F gro=inding 5th? You must be new. Welcome.

Junkyard F tranny is 150. Synchro sleeve assy (with new ring) is 150.

when my car is warmed up it grinds some unless i rev it a lil into the next gear could that be synchro sleeve or the syncros themselves? because being cold it shifts very smooth and more than half the time the "grinding" feels in the shifter itself not the actually gears

why not drop the transmission and open it and whatever is wrong go out and buy the part. easy as that. no one hear can base whats wrong with a car without proper diagnosis or without someone driving it. it can be multiple things with transmissions your practically have to drop it most of the time and open it to see whats wrong specially if its grinding. if it was slipping or not engaging it would be a whole different story it would be easy to tell if it was the clutch slipping or not or if the pressure plate was not engaging anymore and had no gears.

First of all, that isn't meant as a diss. Yes there are some ******** on here as is clear every day, but I'm not one of them.

Secondly, I know what you're talking about, there's a dude on youtube, i think he's Vietnamese, i have his vid faved as I will be eventually pulling my tranny and rebuilding it.

I was just saying he might not want to try to venture into that.

nus, I have had 6 accords and including my exes, I have never had a gear other than 2nd and 3rd grind. I even had a GSR that had a 3rd gear grind.

Some people just want someone to complain about.

Ive blown more H/F transmissions up from raw power than most would believe dude. Ive fixed alot of them.

Ive also built a number of H trannys in some of the best powered H cars around (Including my own which happens to be the highest powered CD5 in the country). I MIGHT know what im talking about.

Maybe.

Id appolpogize for not kissing your *** but I dont have time to coddle people, only offer advice. Being im not sorry. Thats that. Like it or not, im right... 5th gear grind was prevelant enough for an advisory for it in H trannys. 1 addressed shift forks, and one putting a carbon syncro ring in. Once again 90 percent of the time its the selector sleeve thats fcked up. NOT the syncro, or the spring/ Eventusally the syncro and spring will get fucked up, but its usually 1sdt gear that has syncro issues. the rest are 90 opercent of the time the sleeve.

the 3rd gear issue is either the dogs on 3rd are so fucked up theyre kicking it out of gear, or THAT syncro selector sleeve is so worn its not able to stay engaged. This is n F trans, but the same applies

THAT comes form experience,. As I have... alot... I might just know what im talking about.

Might.
