1992 Accord rough start and more
Hello all, I recently acquired a '92 accord that had been sitting for over a year. I got the car running with a new fuel pump. I have driven the car which seems to run fine, but shifts rough (auto). I have two big issues -
1. After the car sits for a day or so, it has a hard time starting. It sounds almost like the starter isn't engaging, but it is. If I continue to try, after about 5-10 seconds it will come to life. It makes a loping sound, shakes a little, and then goes to normal. After that, the car starts instantly with no problems. No codes. ??
2. My temp gauge never goes past halfway, but the fan never comes on. I checked the fuse and it was shot so I replaced that. Then I jumped the switch at the thermostat and the fan worked. Should I replace the switch? Also, I did bleed the system replaced the thermostat.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ok, in left field here but here we go.......
After is sits for a day, pull the spark plugs and turn the engine over.....does water come out of the plug holes ?
#2 maybe related to #1.

Understand, I hope I'm wrong as well.
Just with some of the descriptions of things going on, that is what i came to.
Hard to turn over after sitting - water does not compress. When is does start there is a "loping sound and shake" - the rest of the water burning off.

Update - looks like my valve cover gasket is shot and oil is getting in the number 1 plug boot. Took it off and cleaned it out. Fired right up. Hope this is all. I'll check again tomorrow.
Fuel Pressure Regulator will cause a hard start. Pull the vacuum hose off the FPR, and if there's fuel coming out then you've got a pin hole inside the diaphragm, and FPR will need to be replace.
