I have been looking at ways to improve my security measures. My buddy owns a shop and will be stealth installing a 2 way alarm w/ back up battery, interior siren, glass sensor, tilt and prob a few more I can't think of at this moment. My reason for this thread, was I have been considering how to conceal multiple kill switches. Then as I was browsing the internet it hits me.
Why not use a key fob to control 4 different kill switches. The only con to this I can think of is the fobs batteries and that is solved by carrying a pack of batteries for it in the glove box and then the quality of the fobs and relays. I was wondering if this has been done in the Honda world and if there are any more cons of this method of kill switches before I embark on this project? If this is a project that has been tackled with success, what equipment was of quality? I plan on removing my blue dash for a black one next weekend and figure that will be perfect timing and really don't want to tackle removing the dash again.
I was also thinking of leaving the dash out to make a stealth install easier??? Any thoughts on that?

I guess I will be the guinea pig and try this idea. I have to say I am surprised no one has voiced any opinions on this...
How are you going to make the button presses activate the killswitches?
Kill Switches are best if they're passive; they kill automatically once the car is turned off but can be disabled to start the car again.

Well I was looking at something like this... Not a fan of this actual one but this is what gave me the idea. It is just like locking your doors when you walk away and no one would know the difference. It is a four channel remote the controls 4 toggle relays which can be used to break the circuit. I am curious how you would wire kill switches to activate automatically when the car is turned off. I have always been under the impression that kill switches would have to physically have the switch flipped in order to break or complete the circuit?

I am liking these off this web site. It appear the abilities using a key fob could be endless. Timer activated, motion detector activated, iphone, android.

Passive Kill Switches:

I like the price point on the first eBay link. Smart idea, you could use it to "interupt" the passive kill switches so you don't have to have wires running everywhere. I wish I would have seen that last night. :/
I just wonder how secure it is; if someone has the same thing, will it activate your car? Can someone with a RFID-thingy work it? Any kind of encryption?

This is what I was emailed by the company for the ebay link...
this setup is the same as those RF used in car alarm remote control, the combination code is 99999999 so it is pretty safe to say there is impossible to be activated by another set nearby. however if someone is using a RF learning remote device and intentionally trying to copy your code while you are using your remote, they can copy your code for sure.
Got to contact the other company tomorrow about their key fob's.

I wouldn't be so concerned about just 1 aspect of security, its about layers.
If someone gets to your battery, your s.o.l., there towing it.
Multiple batteries, kill switches that are not based off a key fob, multiple sirens... etc..

I was thinking that a kill switch controlled by a key fob would be impossible for a thief to find unless he goes in my pocket. He would then be forced to problem solve and try to by pass my kill switches allowing more time for me to grab my pistol. It seems pretty simple to me!

you use the key fob to trigger a timed relay, then you have a specific time to turn off the kill switch, even if a thief finds it it won't work without the key fob, you need to build in a backup bypass somewhere in tthe car if the key fob fails, but put it somewhere no where near the dash in a place no one would ever think

Well I have never lost my keys or broke a key fob so I am not worried about those possibilities. I would keep a pack of batteries in the glove box in case the key fob died. I would always have the second key fob at home if needed just in case. I may just do a typical kill switch since I will be installing a gps tracker and alarm. My car stays in the garage and only gets driven one weekend out of the month to car meets or for fun. I have other cars for when I have to run to the stores or what not. I think I am being paranoid because car theft is not common where I live. But as the saying goes, better safe than sorry.
