I am thinking about buying a CR-V.

I like to know if there are weaknesses i need to look out for.
His son used it for the last few months and may not have been to kindly with it

 

Look for problems just like you would any other car. Make sure the engine does not tick or knock and runs smoothly. Check for suspension travel on your test drive. Make sure everything works inside (cruise, a/c, heat, radio, ...). Check tire tread on all tires and check the oil and see what color it is and if the motor looks healthy.

Don't let that always be a red flag. For example, I am a gearhead and my father is not. When I drive his car I baby it. He however, gasses it at every light and rides his breaks 24/7. So I wouldn't assume that a son driving his dad's car is bad.

And you are right about the son thing,
it is a 2001 so last year of production of that model so i assume all the flaws are taken out.

Just trying to find out if there are problems with these models in any way.

 

b20's are natorious for the exhaust valves make sure there adjusted properly.
