B18a to b18b cam swap
Has any one tried mixing the cams up? I know they have different durations on lifts. But, is there anything to be gained in putting the b18b cams in an A head?
why would you go through all the trouble of swapping cams in the first place? It would be a wasted effort. I highly doubt you would gain anything at all.
i have the whole b18b valvetrain including the cams in my b18a build.very nice
if it's not the ONLY thing you plan on doing to it,i think youll be a little satisfied.there is a change.
i rev limit a little early(at like 5500rpm).i dont know if that has anything to do with the b18b stuff in my b18a,but dont be surprised.i like it though, its quicker than my brother's integra and he has the same bolt ons,but i have a little internals done.

I have a customer who has a cam that the has two lobes worn, in a b18a head. I have a b18b complete head. I told him I would sell him and install the cams. Knowing that they would work. He came back that he didn't want to do this because he had read/heard that it would cause major power loss. Keep in mind this is a 50 some year old man. So he isn't concerned with anything over probably 3,000 rpm.
Either way, I got him a set of used cams from the wrecking yard and he is well on his way. Was just curious as to what others thought.

the b18b cams are known to be more aggressive than the b18a cams..
you have to think about it,and think exactly what year/model parts are going into what year/model head.
B18A1 1.8L USDM DOHC non-VTEC 90-93 Integra RS/LS/GS 90-91: 130hp / 92-93: 140hp
B18B1 1.8L USDM DOHC non-VTEC 94-01 Integra RS/LS/GS 140hp
the way i take it,my motor is a b18a and it is from a 91 (rated at 130hp).if i take and put internals that are from 94 integra rated at 140hp,that's gotta make a difference.think about it.
if you decide to swap the entire head, you run into the problem of specifically finding matching obd and/or having to change all that.swapping the internals worked for me..just my 2 cents.
It's the intake manifold/dizzy/injectors that would need to be swapped.
this thread is a few months old, while the head is off my LS engine, just for ***** im gonna use the B1 intake cam, and A1 exhaust cam. just to see what happens. Valve timing is the biggest difference.
ill post back on how it runs compared to a1 cams in both.
some of you just complain that its a waste of time, but for a daily driver and not spending any money at all its nice to gain a couple HP with whatever is laying around the garage, and some of us people enjoy tinkering to get the most out of the least just for the thrill of it.
