Default New Owner - 2000 Honda Civic DX - trying to identify my anti-theft device

Hello. New owner and not much of a car tech-savvy person.

I have this anti-theft device, possibly a pre-ignition, that I am trying to figure out. Unfortunately it has no name or product number engraved on it, no bills that came with the car to indicate what it is.

I have asked the previous owner about it, she has no idea. During the 4 years she has owned it, it was not until she replaced the battery that she was forced into using the device.

What it does is if you try to start the ignition it will refuse to start the engine without this device attempted first. The device installed near the steering wheel is wired into the ignition / starter & battery and will flash, once the anti-theft "key" is placed into the device the flashing light will go solid. At some point you have few seconds to start the engine by turning the ignition.

What I am trying to figure out is if anyone knows the product name, number, or what exactly is this device classified as?? I am trying to get an insurance quote and not sure what the device is classified.

Ps - As I have just joined this forum, it may take me awhile to actually post the pics to show the details of the device

By your description its sounds like an immobiliser with ignition cut
if you have no siren then that would be all it is

Thankyou..... are there various names it goes by? Example. Ignition disabled, Ignition immobilizer, starter disabled.... etc?

that all depends on what has been hooked up to be controlled / cut by it
you might have to get someone who is auto electrical savvy to have a look and tell you what has been done
