Bad valve seals? I need help.
I bought a 93 civic hatch with a ls/Vtec swap last year. When I got it I think it may have had a little valve chatter. Then it started to smoke a little when I turn and even worse when I make a sharp turn. Now it just pours smoke out so I havent been driving it. We put new piston rings and all lower end gaskets on it but its still doing it. Im aware that a care will smake a little after you put new rings in it but I dont think it should be this bad. It will run for about 5 min. with out doing it but after driving for about 5min. it starts to pour out smoke. It still has valve chatter but not bad, about the same as when I got it. Could this be because the valves are warped and the seals are bad? Is there any more information I could provide to help you give me I diagnosis? If so please let me know. Im more than willing to give any information needed for your help.
How were the valves adjusted? If it was the factory method, they probably have too much clearance.
Before the new head gasket went on, did you make sure the oil-control jet was in place in the block? Is the head gasket the correct one for the engine, and is it installed correctly?

I dont know about the valve adjustment, but the car was doing it before we took it apart. But yes i believe the oil-control jet was in place. yes its the corect head gasket and yes it was installed correctly.
Have you ever heard of anything like this?
