I have a 98 Honda Civic EX Coupe. I've been trying to figure out why "door" mode is NOT working when I open the doors. Although, the light does turn on when it's at "ON".

Where should I begin to look for problems?

If you have an aftermarket radio it's not connected anymore. It's all tied in. You can do a search on this. There is a way to bypass it so the dome works.

 

Gotcha, I was wondering why.

I had recently installed alpine head unit.. But didn't know that it would affect the dome light. Can you tell me what should I be searching for?

You would also lose the keyless remote function. If you kept the stock radio, plug the keyless connector into it and tuck it behind the new radio to retain the dome and keyless features.

To my knowledge, all 96-00 EX models came with the keyless function. In this case, you would just need to buy the remote to have keyless power locks, if you still have the stock radio.

There were two connectors at the rear of the stock radio, one for the radio and the other for the keyless system built into the radio.

You used the radio connector for your aftermarket radio. The other keyless connector is just hanging free now.

The dome light fix is simple - jump B8 (Lt Grn/Blk wire) to B14 (Lt Grn/Red wire) in the keyless connector.
