Icon2 Transmission problem/ grinding noise

Hi, so this is my first post but i browsed the forum briefly with no answers directly to what is happening. I just bought a 2001 honda accord ex with 230 000kms on it. Upon changing the brake pads and rotors i decided to gas it and let the wheels spin a bit before i lower it onto the ground (just to see if anything was rubbing and such:/). So heres the problem, at first when i started to gas it when the car is in gear (auto transmission) i heard a click sound (one click). I didnt think anything of it so i tried it again and the same click sound happened (sound came from the passengers side of the transmission i believe). This happened maybe three or four times. So after this all of a sudden it got bad, extremely bad, now when the car is in gear and without touching the pedal i hear what seems to be a grinding noise, it was so loud and obnoxious i had to shut the car off. I think it may be a bearing that just went randomly but this noise is just ridiculously loud. I have no clue what it is and im pretty stumped. Any ideas??

Did one of your axles maybe pop out a bit? Doesnt seem likely but if the c clip is missing from the axle its a possibility especially since you had the car raised up.

Worth a look.

i thought maybe it did since i was moving the knuckle around a lot but i checked and it was fully in. By the c clip you mean the piece of metal around the threads of the axel that goes in the tranny? thats still there.

How did you verify that the clip is still there? Did you remove the axle? Sometimes, the axle can barely slip out and cause this type of problem. Are you able to still drive the car or have you not moved it since this noise occurred?

It just seems odd that everything was fine until you performed this brake maintenance and put the car in gear while raised in the air. To me, all fingers point to the axle........

yeah i took out the axel completely to see if it was the problem but the noise was still there. but before i removed it i checked and it was fully in so i dont think it was axel related i hope. Anyways, i took it to a transmission shop for a diagnosis... just waiting to hear from them. Also the car isnt drivable right now, the noise is just too loud for it to run. This only occures when the gar is in gear too

Could be a stripped spline on the torque converter.....
