Default First time at the drag strip...

Took my new hybrid to the drag strip tonight. Got 7 runs in. Mods: 92 DX hatch full interior, 95 JDM GSR engine, 12.5:1 CR, eagle rods, balanced, JUN flywheel, 6-puck metallic clutch, AEM CAI, custom drag header w\2.5" collector, full 2.5" exhaust, MSD SCI ignition, Dunlop SP5000 Sports at 25psi, stock head.

Malfunctions: MIL at 3-4 shift cause car to run in limp mode therefore redlining at 7000rpm on every run... No 4th+ gear VTEC... Untuned... burning oil and running rich as hell. Notice the incredible lack of acceleration between the 1\8 mile mark and the trap...

Best time was a 14.46@92. That is an uncorrected time at about 1000 above sea level.

2.211 60' didn't seem too bad to me, considering that this is my first time at the track with this car, and 2nd time ever. Any comments\advice is greatly welcome!

Thanks,

-Nick-

Not too bad. Could run a lot lower. Practice launch, fix your problems. Do you have access to a dyno?

Thanks for the timeslip.

Take a look at the problems with the engine. 4th gear makes up the last 4 seconds or so of my run. I had to shift from 3rd to 5th everytime due to "limp mode". I thought a 14.4 wasnt bad considering what i was dealing with.

I would not run my own car at the strip with those types of problems, but it's your car.

The list of problems was about as long as the list of mods man!

I just wanted to see what she has the potential for. Now I know 13's will be no problem with this setup

-Nick-

Edit: Also, I didnt realize the MIL issue until my first run down the strip.

with an MSD SCI unit, better plug wires, octane booster and not running the **** out of it.

edit: the elevation is 800 feet

your 1/8th mile times aren't that great either. they're pretty consistent w/ the 14.4 actually.

Any advice? The car is capable of faster times for sure, I just need to learn it better.

Do yourself a favor and get your car dynoed and tuned. With 12.5:1 compression, try running that race fuel thats 100 octane from 76. Otherwise, good time considering this is your 1st runs. Goodluck.

y did u even bother goin to the track with ur car in that condition, i always thought it be best to work all the bugs out before heading down to the track as to avoid embarresment with a built motor... i pulled a 14.41 with 2.34 60' in a 94 rs integra with b18c1 i/h/e on bad *** tires(as in shitty)
