Icon2 Help with blowing 20amp Wiper Washer Fuse

I have a 1995 Civic Si. As the tittle says it blows the 20amp fuse in the fuse panel (the one in the dash) marked Wiper/Washer. The issue started when my rear wiper locked up and motor was still running, eventually burned out. I did not notice at all till I started to smell a burnt smell. So I took rear motor apart and disconnected everything from it. Followed the wires back to where they tuck into the headliner and disconnected them from there as well. Replaced the fuse and still it blows.

Something else that also failed is my sun roof will not open or close. Lucky for me it was in the closed position. What I dont understand is that the sun roof has its own fuse. And of course my front windshield wipers dont work. I will try and remove the headliner completely this weekend. And follow all wires back to the fuse box and see if I can find a short somewhere.

My question is if anyone has run into something like this in the past? Or if anyone has any advice on what I should be looking for.

The sun roof fuse is good. tested it and replaced it anyhow, but still get the same issue.

It's possible the wire for the rear motor get hot enough to melt the insulation. I would have expected the fuse to go first

If the wire is part of a harness, it could have melted adjacent wire insulation as well. When you get everything opened up, look for crispy wires. Pay close attention wherever they cross over a hard metal edge that could have penetrated soft melting insulation.

Thank you I will look at that. I gave it a quick look last night. Some of the wires are defiantly melted fused together. Sucks big time.

Ill will take the headliner off and follow the wires all the way back. I just hop that I can get my front wipers and sunroof to work again. I will be eliminating that rear wiper.

Hey, I'm having a similar problem. My fuse blows when I try to spray washer fluid, the wipers work like normal but as soon as I pull to spray the fluid the fuse pops. Can you help?

Sounds like something is shorted. Remove the washer fluid pump, then repeat. If it still blows, you probably have pinched or chaffed wires somewhere.

Thanks! Is that tough to do, do I have to remove my bumper?

Ok, I didn't mean actually dismount it. I meant disconnect electrically, so just pull the harness as close as you can to the pump.
If that resolves it, its likely that the pump is shorted.
If it still takes out the fuse, its the wiring leading up to that harness. This kind of damage is common on cars that's been wrecked.

Either from the wreck itself, pinched at the body shop or melted during body repair process.

I don't know much about your car, so I couldn't tell you how challenging it is to do that.
