Default Ac compressor clutch rapid repeating engagement solved -- but still not blowing cold

I am not a AC tech. I have read thread after thread and gained some knowledge from it but I am stumped.

- I installed new compressor, dryer and expansion valve. Along with all new o rings

- Held vacuum for 15 minutes

- Charged with 21 oz of freon....

I had to install a after market slim fan onto the condenser and I haven't wired it to kick on yet, will be doing this tomorrow with a hopefully working ac system to follow.

What happens is the compressor clutch is kicking on and off really quickly. Within a second or two.

Would the fan not being on make the compressor do that ?

Its on a 1992 SI with the oem drive train.

Get the fan working and go from there.

Same problem checked what wiring I could see and didn't see any bare wire . Also the fan is pulling the air through the condensor not pushing it out.

Usually when it's going on and off
It either has to much freon or not enough

Get the fan going and see how it goes from there

I did install the fan and it isn't blowing any where near cold and the compressor is still kicking on and off fast

It says 21 oz of freon on the stamp in the engine bay. That's what I had put in it. Does that sound like too much ?

Before the slim fan was connected though it takes about 1 minute and a half for the compressor to start making it engage over and over quickly. Where after the slim fan the compressor will kick on and stay on for a minute then start kicking on and off again.

Hook up a manifold gauge set to measure the high and low side pressures with the engine idling at 1500 rpm and the A/C on max.

At idle the low side went from 75-81 , the high from 250-275
The picture is where it seem to stay at , at 1500 with the Ac on max

What was the approximate outside temperature when the test shown in the picture was done?

Do you have an R12 system?

When the clutch rapidly cycles on and off, does the condenser fan similarly cycle? Or does it remain running full speed?

Measure the clearance between the plate and pulley and also test the coil:

Did you just do the R134a conversion? If so, give details about what exactly you did.

And no was done when I got the car 3years ago and the Ac didn't work then either. Would always blow semi cold on the highway then the idle would fluctuate and it would blow hot. Now its doing similar but the compressor can be vividly heard kicking on and off.

See diagrams I posted.

Have you considered that the R134a conversion was not done properly?

Do you have an R134a compressor, condenser, evaporator, and pressure switch?

Compressor is the only thing that is not OEM from Honda out of what you just said.

Charged it with 18oz of Freon now it blows cold but the compressor still does the same rapid repeated engagement

How did you decide to add 18 oz?

Blows colder than ever, or just semi-cold?

R134a compressor?

Do the tests in the diagrams.
