iacv probably isn't the root cause then. something else may be causing your surging problems. have you checked for vacuum leaks? when replacing the IACV did you replace the gasket? any check engine lights?

Use a can of carb/brake cleaner to around the intake mani, vacuum hoses, and IACV to find your vacuum leak. You'll notice a huge idle drop if there's a leak.

look for a vacuum leak. use carb cleaner and/or smoke. replace any questionable hoses, particularly on the IACV itself

ok to my understanding the 2 1/4od hoses are coolant correct? they wouldnt have anything to do with a vacuum leak. is there a diagram out here on the net for the routing of the vacuum hoses? the car is surging from 900 to 3k and when it drops there is a release of air ( kinda like a blow off valve) but its a stock motor ,when ever it runs right at 900-1k you dont here any sucking common to a vacuum leak but yes i will look around and clean the iacv thanks nuss and doc

There should be one more hose to the manifold from the iacv
