JDM H22a in '92 Prelude question
Sorry if I posted this question in the wrong place, but I wasn't sure where to put it, and this field seemed like it would have the largest pool of knowledgeable users. I just picked up a 1992 Prelude Si that has an older H22a swap that had been running perfectly until a few days ago. As I was going to look at the car (which was on craigslist as a running car), it quit while the previous owner was returning from the store. He pushed it into a parking space at his apartment complex, which is where I bought the car. When I arrived, the car was still up to temperature, so I believe his story, and went about looking things over. It already had a fuel pressure gauge plumbed in, which shows 40psi with very slight dips during cranking. Turning the key, I could hear the fuel pump relay engage and the fuel pump spool up. Loosening one of the spark plug wires at the distributor, I cannot see nor hear spark jumping the gap. The cap appears to be a cheap clear cap, and is cracking a little.... but I don't think that's the problem because there was no warning to the P.O. before it quit. Also, the timing belt is not broken, so that can be ruled out. Any thoughts? I suspect the ignitor or coil. Are either or both internal in the distributor? Any other thoughts?
Check/test the ignitor, yes it is inside the distributor. They can quit without warning and cause a no spark issue.
IMO I would also get rid of the clear distributor cap as well.

I already replaced it, but..... I had to get another clear cap. It's all I could find
The new one is an Accel and the quality appears decent, even though I'm not particularly a fan of Accel. The old one was very badly corroded and cracked. There was especially corrosion where the contact for the coil was located. The rotor setscrew is frozen in place and will take some work to free up before I can get any further into the distributor.

IIRC If it is an internal coil distributor then any ignitor from a USDM internal coil distributor will work. Same goes for if it is an external coil distributor.
