Default burning coolant wtf?!?!

hey HT..

so for those that have been following me from my build with many problems...there is a new problem that i am having and it's really killing me..

so after the build and i got it running and everything,i didnt notice that a hose became disconnected and it ended up blowing the old radiator and overheating the motor...

got a new radiator, and fixed multiple leaks that i had..

car seems to run fine now..smokes a LITTLE white, but when it gets up to temp, and then it cools off and drops temp down again,it smokes white when i get on it hard and then will bog, hesitate, lose power and drop idle significantly at some point..a little water spitting from the exhaust and it starts to smoke heavily..

is this my headgasket?i am not overheating when this happens, but my radiator fluid seems to be draining somewhere after a short cruise..

somebody help please!

dammit that sucks..
i just put that one in..but thanks for giving me some confirmation!i was beginning to think i hooked something up wrong and was feeding water into the head..

what are the pros/cons of a single layer head gasket?if i put a single layer hg in,and there was a chance of it blowing again, should i expect some serious damage?is it less likely there would be damage if i use a multilayer headgasket and it were to blow again?

damage only depends on how much you overheat. have the head checked to make sure its not warped

Single layer head gaskets are used to bump up compression. If I remember right, it raises it something like .2 per layer removed from OEM.

If you just put in a new one, it is probably either

A- You didn't torque the head bolts correctly using the proper sequence, or you used previously used head bolts that are stretched out of spec

B- Your head is warped and needs to be resurfaced. Did you have the head checked for warping, pressure checked, etc?

C- Could be a cracked block (usually a long shot, but it can happen) or your block/head mating surface is out of tolerance.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but hopefully it's a simple fix. Let us know what you find out

thank you for the information guys.
the head bolts(original) were torqued down to spec, and the head was polished and balance checked before the build..
i just put this hg in,but this was before the overheat.this is a fresh build, i havent even put 100 miles on it yet..

ALSO!i have milky oil when i remove the valve cover..so most definitely it is the headgasket..i hope anyways..

i will be doing the headgasket later in the week and will update with the updates
thanks again everyone!
