I have read many blogs about this problem with just as many different responses but none related to this issue. All end up with a very expensive repairs which the dealership is very willing to accommodate. the "D" indicator begins to flash after taking a (long) exit ramp (to the right) at 40+mph. and remains flashing. while flashing there are no operational problems. After which I will shut off the engine for about 5 minutes then resume my trip without further errors. There are no shifting problems or noises coming from the transmission and the car drives just fine. it is just this one exit that seems to create this condition. when I take this exit at speeds lower than 20mph the problem does not occur and the flashing "D" does not come on any other time. Is it that the VTM is trying to talk the transmission to be in 4wd when its not needed or is there a oil pickup not getting oil when it should? Tranny fluid is full and has no unusual smells. the vehicle has 142K and this problem has been intermittent for over a year. This doesn't seem like a high cost problem the vehicle stills run fine.
