Icon2 Short Ram VS Cold Air Intakes, what is best?

Hey HT I have a 2001 GSR with a POS intake on it.
There are so many different types on intake on the market which one is the best or decent enough to get. Is there any problem with an Aluminum pipe and no namer filter? Lastly does the color of an intake matter between red, black, polished, so on. If I got a black cold air intake would the black one generate more heat than a polish? Thanks guys.

In all honesty, with a stock motor don't even worry about such nonsense. On a built and tuned allmotor setup than a longer intake pipe is more ideal.

short ram. if you want to hydro lock your motor cuz its cool to have an intake out the fender, and color is just preference. i have a carbonfiber password jdm intake on mine (only cuz i got it like that) a short ram will be an improvement over stock and it wi.l clean upp the bay some. you need o tell us what motor you have and what your goals are first though

You should go with AEM or K&N, those and other brands give you the capability to switch between short ram and cold air by removing or reinstalling the tube that elongates the tubing for cold air. As for performance, you'll get the same, if not very close to same HP gain.

longer is better, you dont have to worry about hydrolocking your motor. for one you would have to drive through a Sh** ton of water, and two they make a special valve you put on the intake to prevent hydrolocking your motor in rainy places. i live in seattle. i have always had cold air intakes never had a problem

in all reality, you're better off with the stock stuff.. just remove the resonator assemblies and leave the box, filter and arm.

if you want bling, short ram. ebay pipe and a good filter. not k&n.

as monkey says for light tuning simple remove the resonator assemblies and leave the box, filter and arm it work fine ....if you want to work better is high end then short pipe (this is the theory of itb) if you want mild gain then long pipe with a filter ....
as for all motors and drag you can run 2,5 -3 inch pipe straight to the headlight
