Default "I AM THAT GUY"

what's up guys?
I'm recently new to the Honda game and I've read all the stickys about the suspension set ups and what not. But I still cant find what I'm looking for. I currently have BWR LCA's, BWR subframe brace, and BWR tie bar. NOT INSTALLED YET! I've been on the search for coilovers for about 4 months now or so and I can't find what I'm looking for. I recently cancled my order from Racelandusa.com b/c they lied to me about their product. I am looking to lower/slam my 97 EK sedan. I want at least a 2.5in-3.5in drop. I have anywhere from $600-900 to spend, I know it's a huge jump. If anyone can help me out on leading me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it! I have a friend who is all about Skunk2 and is trying so bad to get me to buy their coilovers, but everyone on the eastcoast has them, I try to not follow the trends as much as possible. I also have a friend that keeps trying to stear me towards Function & Form... but I've read so much about their leay shocks and what not. I'd love to hear some opinons on this guys! Also, the Progress CS-II's.. from what I've read, they are great! But like
I said, I want to be lower than what they recommend.

THANKS,
EKfriendly

Also.. I am currently running the stock tire/wheel set up... I'm changing it soon to 195/55/15. 195/50/15, or 205/55/15. Not sure yet.

Koni/GC should get you to your goals reliably and meet your budget at $800.

The progress' are not designed with slammage in mind.

The skunk2's and F&F are made from subpar/ cheaper parts and materials, people just hype about them because its JDM and get sucked into the marketing aspect of it.

What is the issue here? All you want to do is drop your car. Any coilover can do that. I don't understand when you keep saying you cannot find a coilover to do what you want when you NEVER SAY WHAT YOU WANT past dropping it.

If you really read all the posts and stickies you should have known that people will overwhelmingly recommend the Koni/Ground Control combo. But for your purposes just go ahead and get the BWRs to round out your set.

Next you'll be asking about what spring rates you need to get.

Nothing different in this question than anyone else's "What setup should I get?" question.

If you value your life get rid of that BWR garbage!!! Skunk2 is crap! I currently have them on my hatch and the ride sucks with a mild drop. I am about to buy Progress CS-II but I am only wanting to loose the wheel gap. Koni/GC is a good set up and probably be best in your price range to slam it but why spend the money when it really won't matter being that low. The ride will be crap regardless what you pick.

I clearly said this in my post.... I specified on what i want to do with my car. SLAM. LOWER. 2.5-3.5in DROP. I don't understand why people get mad. It's a damn forum. i thought forums were there for pople who are trying to look out for people and help guide in others in the right way. I GUESS NOT? @grumblemarc all I've seen is you trash talk alsmot every damn set up in the coilovers situation. I don't even want you in here... all you will do is start stupid arguements. I WANT STANCE! BWR isn't a horrible company. they make a great product, and every shop ive went to in the philadelphia area will all stand by their work! Import DPS... ever heard of them? they talk very highly of BWR and Skunk2.

People are offering the same suggestions as were found in the sticky at the top of the forum. The same stickies you claim you read. What new info are you expecting to find?

You want to drop a car "2.5in-3.5in"? I said ANY coilover will do that so what ELSE is it that's holding you up with your purchase? What OTHER way can you do up a suspension? What does that even mean? What other criteria do you need met? YOU NEVER SAID!!! Are you tracking the car? Autocrossing? Anything other than daily driving? Then what is so hard?

If all you want is to show off then get cheap F&F and call it a day. Otherwise go with the hands down favorite and get the K/GC combo and stop wasting everyone's time wit this tired question. It is pretty much THE most recommended combo in this suspension forum so if you really read and researched, you would know that.

BWR a quality company making quality products? Then get the BWRs then. It's called marketing and many people like you fall for it. Just like you almost did with the Racelands. Skunk2? Here's what Skunk2 has been historically known for before they took forever and a day to correct it. Quality suspension components.

And just in case you missed the recommendation in teh sticky

$800 range

Koni/Ground control

That's it. There is no other choice. It is hands down the best suspension for the money. Lifetime warranty on the shock and coil sleeve, pick your rates and easily the most used and most sold performance shock in the world. Koni has drivers all over the country with track records using their products. Anything else in the price range can't be justified over this setup. The only thing that comes close is Tokico Illumina shocks paired with ground control coilovers. Tokico also offers a lifetime warranty and a superior product for a similar price at the koni shock. The emphasis on ground control for use with these shocks is merely the ability for the individual to pick the spring rates best suited for their needs and tastes.

Another consideration would be PIC Apex at $835. Good company, not a lifetime warranty however.

WTF is it with you and every other NOOB that comes in here? If you have all of the answers all ready WTF are you asking for peoples opinions?

This answers your needs perfectly:

"Slamming" your car is HARD on suspension. It doesn't make damn bit of difference of what suspension you put on the car at when slamming the car, none are going to ride or handle properly at the height you are looking at. Pick the one that makes you feel good when you tell your friends and call it a day.

Are you ****ing kidding? If they make a great product, buy the ****ing things all ready.

Marc answered your question the correct way, if you think it is trash talk GTFO. You only stated you want "stance" and to "slam" your car. You are poser, pick any set that fits that "stance".

If you have more needs for your suspension than that loose your **** poor attitude and tell us what else you want from your suspension.

To OP. Just cut or heat up the springs already I always say. This is an expensive hobby if your not prepared to put in the hard work, time, and money. Then I suggest trying something else.

Invest in a good suspension set up. Trust me its not worth going with cheap crapola.

Ill peronally say I have used Megan GodSpeed and BWR kSport.. They all failed within a year. Also my car was not "slammed" only lowered about 1.5in. on daily driver no aggressive driving.

For me in my personal experience. I have used TIEN FLEX and BUDDY CLUB N SPEC+. These have worked out waaaaay better than the other guys.

Cut your coils, cheapest way to slam your ride.

Take the springs out completely or, call OHLINS to custom make you a set of coilovers.
