CRX - 96 Civic seat swap
Before I moved forward on this I read as many posts as I could find on the CRX seat swap. Seemed like the seat pan swap was the only way to go. I ended up grabbing a set of buckets from a 96 sedan. Got them home and realized it was not going to be as easy as I thought. I swapped on the reclining mechanism from the CRX seat and it put the Civic seat back too far back. I tried to dremel extra notches in the mechanism but that didn't work out, it wouldn't hold. So I was back to square one. I then noticed that the reclining mechanism from the other seat was basically the same, it just needed to have a 2nd hole drilled out to match up to the CRX seat pan. In the end it worked out and I even used some of the bottom seat trim from the Civic seats.
Here are some pics. Seats cost me $40. I had to zip tie the upholstery onto the pan, the hog rings wouldn't have worked in most of the positions.
Butchered CRX reclining mechanism where I tried to add notches

Civic mechanism on top, CRX below. I enlarged the lower hole on the Civic piece so it would bolt to the CRX pan
