Okay I understand that the cylinder head can be warpped but is it possible for the bottom of the cylinder block to be wrapped where it connected to the oil pan. ?

Why don't you just check if it is? Pull the oil pan studs out and use a straight edge. Why are you wondering? Areyou having a problem with your oil pan gasket?

 

If a block is sleeved the mains can be distorted during the process. A line hone/bore can usually fix this.

I dont think so! the oil pan surface on the bottom of the block usually leaks cause of a old oil pan gasket. if its leaking you must remove it and take the old gasket of! if its real old good luck! it took me a couple of hours scraping the old gasket off the oil pan i hit it with my dremel eventually and got as much off as i could! you must remove as much as you can so the new oil pan gasket matts evenly! the honda factory only puts a nickle size dab of honda bond on top of each corner of the oil pan gasket when the motor is assembled brand new, you might need a thin layer all around on top of the gasket to be safe since the pan is used and will most likely still have some gasket stuck to the pan but try and remove as much as you can if its caked on there.

 

It's not on my car. I'm working at the shop and a buddy kept saying the bottom portion on the block where the oil pan connect is warped. So he tries to order a new engine for the vehicle. And no one at the shop cares to take a look at it and was allowing him to order a new engine.

 

Then I asked him to explain how its warped and he says because the oil pan won't fit. so I got down here and got the oil pan on.

 

What kind of shop is this! that mech or guy should get slapped! i hope he has a good enough reason for the customer but then again thats why people bring there cars to shops cause they dont dont know and last thing they think of is if the shop knows anything haha. I think your shop is a rip off and you should report this to the BBB!! $3,000+ for a $200 job omg this is the biggest rip off i have heard of yet lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That guy should get fired cause he dont know **** lol how does the oil pan not fit! either its backwards or bent either way it has nothing to do with the bottom of the engine block! even if its warped it wouldnt be so warped that it will show physically that the surface was not even with the oil pan! it would be microscopic and would need to be checked with a level! and like i said its prolly a leaking oil pan gasket. And also what made him take off the oil pan to begin with? what was the customers complaint or issue with the car?

its not a civilian shop. military with military vehicles. i meant i got down on the ground and put the oil pan on myself to prove to him that it will fit.

he took off the oil pan because it had a bad gasket. he got a new gasket and new oil pan and was trying to put it on. got mad cuz he couldnt get it on and automatically he assumes it warped.
