How long will stock struts/coil sleeves last?
I plan to order some ground control coil sleeves here in the next few days... now I know everyone says coil sleeves/stock struts won't last me TOO long, but how long do stock struts realistically last? I'd prefer actual testimonies rather than "dude they'll blow soon"... I know it won't last Forever, I just need to get an idea of how soon I'll have to pickup aftermarket struts. I want to lower my car 2.5-3" with the GC sleeves, is that pushing it on stock struts? My suspension as is (stock) is in very good condition.
Thanks
Thanks
Really? There is no set time. It all depends on how you drive, road conditions and how low you dump it. For what you want to do you'll blow them in no time.
Instead of doing work TWICE I don't see why people just don't wait until they have ALL their suspension components together in one place.

2 days. front right blew rather dramatically and sprayed the entire wheel/wheel well with shock oil.
the back two lasted about a month though. and the front left maybe a couple months.
did it for the lulz. i could hop the back wheels off the ground, obviously it wasn't my daily drive at the time.

Fronts made it about 3 months, rears were about 6. However, my buddy's shocks made it all of 2 weeks.
we were both no where near slammed.
At 3-4'' drop those shocks are going to be done rather quickly.

Hmm how far were you and your buddy dropped? I think if I do say F it and get the coils now I'll only drop it 1.5-2" and see if I can get away with that just a little longer.
i'd buy the shocks, a pair at a time, and then some top hats, then sleeves.
note the handling difference a decent shock makes. then how good it'll feel with the additional preload, then put the sleeves on it and slam the **** out of it for a couple days until your sick of it.
though, i can totally understand just wanting to lower it
