2006 Honda Accord Ebay Fog Lights....
I'm semi new to posting on the forums, I usually use it to learn and help me as well as other friends through installs and such, but we just did my first install - so I wanted to send a quick review out.
I snagged a pair of eBay "jdm" fog lights off of ebay for 43 dollars. I read in a number of places that they were awful, terrible install, etc etc.
I'm here to tell you, that is by far not true. These foglights are indicatve of the price tag.
I opted for a pair of clear ones - I know the yellow ones are cooler - but I had my GSr powered Type R clone stolen in my middle class town, so from that point forward, whatever I drive will have as stock an appearance as it can, while still having a little flavor.
The clear foglights (at least to me) look like stock equipment.
Anyway, for any of you that have been in this car/mod game for any period of time (you know who you are) this install will be a cinch. The only HUGE problem we had installing them was the plugs/harnesses don't match up. In all honesty - we were trying to figure out what the hell they were even for.
The annoying part with these fogs - they come with zero instructions. Zip. Zero. Nada. I thought it was a joke. Even some of the lower quality ebay kits for different things come with at least an ATTEMPT at directions. These just came in the box, with recipt, harness(es), relay, brackets, and switch.
It basically went like this - we took the front bumper off, and knocked the covers out of the fog light holes. First made sure the fog lights fit in, which they did, they just require a bracket behind them. No problem, brackets were supplied in a baggie, and once we figured out which way they went, it was into the cabin.
Next step was to find a place to run the wiring into the cockpit. Pretty simple, same place the car alarm was. If you have trouble running wire here, wrap the wire(s) you're trying to run around a wire hanger, and feed it through. Once that was done, we identified the power wire, and cut the plug off the end - it doesnt fit ANYTHING on the Accord. We found a power wire on the harness (black with red stripe) and just tapped off of there. As for the power wire in the engine bay - we ran it directly to the battery, and grounded what needed to be grounded (black).
Then we tested the lights before we put the cover back on - at first they didn't come on - I think we weren't grounded correct or getting power, I forget - but once we traced the problem, the power wire is tapped right in - fog lights came right on. From then we just put the bumper on a counter, mounted the lights in the bumper - tested them again, and re assembled the car after zip tying everything that was loose. All in all took us about 4 hours (taking some, errr, flying breaks) and for 43 dollars I couldn't be happier.
They look OEM - they look beautiful. The switch lights up in the cabin, and has its own light to indicate on/off, by your left knee (if you dont have any buttons there yet you get to choose right middle or left on where to put the switch). Honestly, for what I paid, I couldn't be happier...they sit flush, they're mounted tight, theyre on a switch, and won't bring unwanted attention.
All that's left is to convert my whole front end to HID's! Its definitely noticeably brighter with them, and makes my front end look more "Honda distinguished" if I may.
PM/DM/Reply with any questions, and if you guys want some pics just let me know, I only snapped one with my iPhone.
But I will again say, if you guys are at all adept with your car/cars, although I've only had these for 2 hours now - they seem like a bargain to me!
