How noisy are the s2000 on highways?
I'm thinking about buyin a s2000 and getting out of the turbo/swapping bull crap of old hondas
.....but how noisy is it on the inside when your on the inside? I rented a 2012 convertible like 2 weeks ago on vacation and drove on the highway and ooo boy......its like that airplane OOOOO noise and makes my ear pops all the time....is the s2000 like too? What about if I purchase the hard top will it still does that? Thanks!!

i personally don't think they are that bad, i can't hear much wind noise with the top up but my exhaust is stupid loud, and if i'm driving it honestly 90% of the time the top is down. hardtops do quiet it down a great deal at least the OEM i havn't driven one with an aftermarket top on it

I will add that with hardtop and decent seals (OEM hardtop setup would be best), you will be able to carry a conversation on the highway. And if that's not enough, you can sound deaden every part of the cabin fairly easily. The hardtop can be sound deadened effectively, the door panels are easy, and getting under the carpet beneath the seats is easy too. It's really up to how much energy you want to put in, but by no means is this luxury-SUV-quiet on the highway
Mine would be quiet. I have the oem hardtop. But I have a type one racing exhaust and a test pipe. And I musta failed the test pipe cause it got a ticket. Its loud as ****. I couldnt hear anything after I drove the car from Ohio to SC.
fairly loud to be honest. I'd give it a 7/10 considering the plethora of vehicles I've driven/ridden in. 10 being actual "race cars" with completely stripped interiors (a particular e36 M3 and a 91 foxbody immediately come to mind) which are probably never driven on highways aside from the occasional track day when trailering is not considered necessary.
A couple other things to consider: tire choice and exhaust (obviously). Most of the tires worth putting on this car will be relatively loud at highway speeds. The transmission is also pretty loud, but definitely not annoying by any means. Kind of a slight gear whine that always seems to be there if you listen for it. All this being said, I can't say I've ever encountered another s2k owner that had a problem with their car on account of noise. I've never had trouble carrying a conversation in my car, even at 75-80mph with the top down, I guess you just compensate by talking louder. At first it might seem noisy, but after a short time driving it you don't even notice.

i hate people that don't use signals!
but OP, that's like posting a picture of pizza and asking "is this pizza good?" it's all a matter of opinion. all will depend on tires, exhaust, YOUR noise tolerance, etc.

I have a bluetooth mic installed by my A pillar, its awesome because i can hear the person through my speakers and the mic catches my voice perfectly. Even topdown (with the windows up) its fine.

I think people are over exaggerating the truth here. People are having trouble holding conversations on the highway in stock S2000s? Stop mumbling. Are you a man or a mouse?
My car has a T1R 70EM and it's fairly loud on the highway for OBVIOUS reasons. I had to wear ear plugs on the trip to Myrtle Beach and the trip to Vegas/San Diego/LA.
However, my GF's stock AP2 is totally fine on the highway. It's not exactly QUIET...but it's totally bareable. Tire noise, diff noise, trans noise, and wind noise are prevalent. I can definitely have a conversation just fine in her car at 80MPH.
Not a quiet car.
Not as loud as fools make it seem.
Test drive one.
