Default Hawk pad thickness

I probably will give hawk tech a call on monday, but I'm trying to figure out a way for our pads to last longer on our ek chumpcar.

the pad number (from hawk) is HB275G.620. now if I remember right the ".620" is the pad material thickness. they do however list a .661 and a .720.

has anyone had experience with this? can I fit the .720 in our EX calipers?

or should I buy gsr calipers and bolt them up? < pads are suppose to be cheaper???

ok so I called Hawk today, if anyone cares, he said the .620, .660, .7xx is the total pad with backing plate thickness. Said to compress piston into caliper and mount up a new rotor and mount caliper, then take measurements on both sides of caliper. That should give me atleast a .6xx number. I'm trying to fit the .7xx's for a longer lasting pad.

Do you have the DTC60 compound on the front and back? If so, are you finding the rears wearing too fast?

Aside from that try going with an HP+ in the rear for better brake balance with the DTC60 up front.

our last race (16hr enduro) we had dtc-30 up front and the good ol civic drums out back with how know what in them.

We were out of pad at the 12hr mark and milked the last 4 with what we had left. I'm probably going to switch compounds, and also would like to see if I could fit a thicker pad in there.

Yeah a 16 hour enduro will necessitate a second set of pads I would think. I usually run DTC 70's or 60's up front and they'll last me about 6 one hour races but it also depends on the track and how much/type of braking it asks of the car and driver.

Thicker pad may help - GL

ok, so after fitting the hb275g.620 in out factory ex caliper, I have 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch left over. So if you add .125 (1/8) to .620 = .745. Hawks thickest is .720.

So next time I order pads it will be the HB275?.720
