They look like projectors, but I've never seen them before. Can anyone help me out please?

Looks like DIY black housing headlights, usually the part around the headlight bulbs isn't painted.
I could be wrong.
Here's an example, the inside around the headlight bulb is left unpainted.

Hmm..I have quite a few pics of other cars with the same kind of headlights, are you sure they're not off the shelf products?

Also how do you tell it's got HID's?

They could be off the shelf from an ebay store, but I would think the owner did it himself. Those aren't OEM as far as I know, the only dark headlights that are OEM are CTR headlights and they are gunmetal not completely black, DIY black/CTR style headlights aren't hard when there are many tutorials out there, and retrofitting HID's and projectors are common too. Here are some pictures

Owner posted here,
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-acura-28/new-pix-specialk%2Aatari-squad-2772448/

As for retrofits, I'd try looking in the Lighting section here,
https://honda-tech.com/forums/lighting-107/

But mostly, I'd do you research on HID retrofits here,

Here's a long post, but i'll teach you a trick I came across.
I did a reverse image search on Google (in case you wanted to know how)
Google > Images > Click on the Camera in the search bar

Paste the URL of the photo you want to reverse search
I scrolled down to this:

Size: 58.3 KB

Clicked on the first link and hoped that the blogger mentioned the name of the wheels on that Civic:

and they did:

Keep in mind those might be a Japan-based wheel company that wasn't spread into the US. Even though it's a USDM Show in Japan, kinda like how there are the JDM-****** in the USA, there's the vice-versa.

Here's a quote I grabbed from that same blog:
A better look at the EK hatchback from Osaka JDM/Car Craft Boon…. Someone is bound to ask again but the wheels are from a company known as Barramundi Designs…They are like the “CCW” of Japan…

Actually, I find the Google similar image search a bit unreliable. It's a bit like playing a lottery when searching by image. When I did those same steps (This was before resorting to HT), no results were returned and I was just redirected to Google's front page. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Anyway, thanks again for your help, cheers, really appreciate it
