Default Crimp on weight = Bent wheel?

Strange question,
I have Enkei RS+Ms that appear bent on the inside (flat spots) at exactly the point where the crimp on weight is mounted to the wheel bead. I've only checked the two front wheels, but the flat spot is present on both at the crimping point.
Can a crimp on weight cause structural weakening of the alloy? I only have ~40,000 KM on the wheels.

Maybe the weights are loose and just shimmied along till the flat spot on the wheel that was caused by other damage.

Pictures of the type of wheel can be seen on this 3rd party site but they dont show the rear of the wheel unfortunately

Pretty sure hes talking about standard weights that are knocked/tapped on.

Yeah sorry, i mean the tap on weights. If the were banged on hard could it cause structural weakness within the alloy that ?over many rotations causes a flat spot?
This picture is of the way better wheel the other one is much worse but it's at the shop

no, they'll not harm the structural integrity of the wheel

I'm thinking this is more likely than the installation of the weight causing the damage. However, if the weight(s) moved to the flat spot, then the tires should be slightly out of balance and would probably cause a vibration. Then of course the bend in the wheel could also cause a vibration........the wheel weights themselves are soft enough to conform to the shape of the lip, and would bend way before the wheel would

In the end I agree with you.. some major force was applied to the wheel somehow someway......

This is why stick on weights were invented.

I would be pretty pissed if my new wheels came back like that

Ok so the weights definitely weren't loose so its unlikely they moved along the rim. I dunno wtf has happened. I'm going to contact enkei and see if they can do anything for me via the lifetime structural warranty, but I doubt it will get me anywhere.
Both the affected wheels came off the front of the car. Perplexed..

The better of the two bent wheels was able to be balanced with 3oz of weight. Is that excessive? Assuming I cant get it replaced can I drive it like that?

Thanks for the input.
Weird thing is that the bend is in both wheels at exactly the mounting point of those weights.

You can have someone check the wheel on a Roadforce balancing machine to check for runout. If the wheel comes back as spinning "true", then you're fine... my guess is that if you have not felt any vibrations yet, you're fine to continue to use the wheel.
