Default Help with remote start wiring

car: 94 Civic Si 5 speed

I know what you guys think about installing a remote start on a 5 speed. But I'm installing a magnetic ground switch on the shifter like what causeofalarm put on his website.

I have a Code alarm 671 and i'm trying to install this one wire (External start trigger) but I don't know where to connect it. I tried searching but it gives me the run around on the internet.

This is what is says for the wire:
NOTE: The following connection is only required on a REMOTE START installation.
-This wire will activate the Remote Start when a GROUND pulse is applied to it from an external device.

Look into a alarm/remote start system that is design for a manual car. Viper/compustar makes some of the best. The way your doing is not fool proof and is dangerious. I'll be glad to help you when you do.

I just tried the remote start without hooking up the external trigger wire. It works! I have a manual off/on switch for the remote start.

The only problem I have now is my dome light. It never fully wants to go off when its in the door position and all my doors are closed. The only time it turns off is when the ignition is in the RUN position. This makes my alarm think that the doors are opened.

Then you have mis-wired something and as mentioned your taking a big risk using a remote start for automatics only on a car that is a standard without any "safety" like a Peripheral NSS... http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/S...id/0/SFV/30046

You will wish you had one the day you remote start your car in gear, it will happen, so lets hope some little kid is not playing in front of your car when it happens. 94

For the mis-wired part...before I even installed the alarm the dome light was doing when it had a 36 SMD. But when I put the normal dome light bulb it shows a slight light. This is when the all doors are fully closed and dome light switch is on door.

I guess I should buy that NSS...but is there anything like that product for a cheaper price. I will search also but if you find one before I do that would be great.

Now for the remote start...I've taking consideration in not using it since that thought is always in the back of my mind.

I would check your ICU it supplies a ground for the dome light when drivers door is opened, drivers door pin is not a direct connection to the doom light like the rest of the doors, the drivers door pin is wired to the ICU and the ICU supplies the ground, sounds like it is messed up, a common problem, [messed up ICU] on older Honda/Acura. 94
