im new to hondas so forgive me if this is a stupid question but im thinking of buying a bisimoto stage 2 camand cam gear for my f22. i was wondering if you can change the cam and gear with the motor still in the car or if you have to remove the motor to do so. thanks ahead of time. i need to know kinda quick cuz if i have to remove the motor im going to just buy a new used motor and build it so i can still drive my car back and forth to work thanks again
yeah take the vc off, take off the caps holding the camshaft in place, gear comes with it. Gotta take off top timing cover and timing belt ofc. You have to send your stock camshaft in as a core or another a6, your not buying a new one, your paying for a regrind. Afterwards your gonna have to get it tuned......
also is it going to be a real pain in the *** to get it back in time or what? ive never put a timing belt on a honda. my other vehicle is a 08 dodge diesel no timing belt..lol
im not located anywhere near you so idk any reputable shops to recommend. Send you ecu to get it driveable (not recommended to use for long) or save time and get it installed at the shop that would be tuning it.......
Best bet would be to find a tuner close to you and talk to them about what it is that you're looking to do . They should be able to give you a quote. Then you can go from there and see if there are any cheaper alternatives.
If you have the tools you could do the cam swap yourself as well as swap out the stock ECU for a chipped ECU. A chipped ECU with a basemap tune on it will get you to a tuner. These ECUs can be purchased from a number of reputable companies online. Xenocron.com being one of them.

Basemaps aren't always going to be 100%. The fuel and ignition maps are usually tuned on the conservative side. Usually resulting in low MPG becuase they fatten up the fuel maps to keep from running lean. Only real way to dial everything in once you have the cam and ECU installed is with a tune.
just to let you know, you wont be getting much power on any bisi cam without building the bottom end first.
bisi says 15% over stock with his cams. that nothing.
if you really want that cam to perform its meanest raise the block compression a little, port & polish heads, strong valve springs and retainers, intake and exhaust upgrade, tuned on a p06, you dont need that fancy adjustable cam gear(yet).
