Hi everyone,

I'm having some issues with my car, I can't even get it started anymore. At first, the car would just turn off or idle at stops. After replacing the spark plugs, it ran like normal. A few days later, the car would idle/stop randomly and sometimes the RPMs would drop and then go back up. I went to autozone and they said that although my battery was charged, it was bad. Changed the battery, and the car would turn but not start. The sound it's making is like it wants to turn on, but it just doesn't. Looking at all the symptoms, it sounded like a fuel pump issue. I replaced the fuel pump and air filter. I then got a new main relay and still no change in sound with or without it. The car has 103k miles on it. Anyone know what the problem could be? I would get a diagnostic done, but I really can't afford to pay anymore money, especially because of the money I've spent replacing all the parts. Thanks in advance!

Ruled out:

-fuel pump
-main relay
-battery
-fuel filter
-spark plugs and wires
-computer looks fine

 

Check your distributor cap and rotor.

 

How do I tell if that's the problem? I took it off and checked it, but the inside seemed fine... as far as I could tell at least.
